Smart India Hackathon 2019 – Registrations open


Smart India Hackathon 2019 is a nationwide initiative by the Ministry of HRD to provide a platform for students to solve a real-time problem faced by peoples in their daily lives. This helps to create a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem-solving among the student community.

SIH2019 is the third edition of the initiative and is the world biggest software and hardware hackathon. The program will have wide participation from 1 Lakh+ students, 1300+ technical institutions, 200+ organizations across the country.

Technology students across India can compete to creatively solve problems provided by various public and private sector industries and NGOs, with technical solutions in the following sectors.

  • Agriculture & Rural Development
  • Clean Water
  • Robotics and Drones
  • Healthcare & Biomedical devices
  • Renewable energy
  • Security & Surveillance
  • Smart Communication
  • Smart Vehicles
  • Waste Management
  • Miscellaneous


Registrations for College Single Point of Contact (SPOC) and Student teams are open. The team has to submit their ideas on or before 20th January 2019. Only the team leader needs to register online. Students can register by visiting the program’s official website. The team can be formed from different branches of the same college but not different college. It is mandatory to have at least one female member in each team. Teams have to upload a College Authority Letter issued by the college while registering. The same is downloadable from the top left-hand side of the page where the team registration page. The team name should be unique and must not contain the name of your institute in any form. A team can make multiple idea submissions for different problem statements under the same team name. Team members CANNOT be associated with multiple teams in parallel!

There is a great chance that many of the top Private sector companies hiring some of the best minds across the nation based on the solutions they provide.
