Facebook invites applications for Grace Hopper Celebration Scholarship 2019

Facebook is inviting applications from women around the world for its 2019 Facebook Grace Hopper Women in Computing Scholarship. The program will benefit 50 women excelling in computer science to attend the Grace Hopper Celebration under Facebook Sponsorship. More than attending the celebration the recipients will also have an opportunity to spend valuable time with the Facebook Engineers before the conference days which will help them to learn, collaborate and prepare for the conference.
Grace Hopper Celebration
Grace Hopper Celebration is the world’s largest gathering of women technologist to bring the research and career interests of women in computing to the forefront. It is produced by Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology and presented in Partnership with Association for Computing Machinery. This year it is happening at Orlando, Florida from October 1 – 4. The Facebook Grace Hopper Scholarship recipients will a pre-Grace Hopper Celebration program in Orlando that includes tech talks, mentoring sessions and networking events from September 30 – October 5, 2019.
Award Details:
- Paid registration for the Grace Hopper Celebration
- Paid travel and lodging for the whole days (September 30 – October 5, 2019)
- An invitation to a private reception with Facebook’s Engineering Team during the Grace Hopper Celebration.
- Stipend for additional meals
Important Dates:
- Applications have to be submitted in full by Friday, June 29th, 5:00 pm PDT.
- Award recipients will be notified by email of their acceptance by midnight PDT on Thursday, August 1st.
- Scholarship recipients MUST be available to attend Facebook and conference activities between Monday, September 30, 2019, and Saturday, October 5, 2019.
Qualifications:
- Should be a women student majoring computer science or related field (Information Technology, Maths, Statistics, Computer Engineering).
- Currently enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking university program.
- Is not an intern at Facebook or one who have accepted offers with Facebook (2019-2020).
- Students have to arrange their own travel visa while the expenses will be covered by Facebook.
